Thanks to a footnote in the GOP’s new Healthcare plan, states will be eligible to pass a law that allows citizens to pay for medical services with firearms.

That’s right, not only do guns save lives, but they can now also save lives. Many states, including Texas, Wisconsin, Alabama, Tennessee, Arizona, Montana, and Nevada are considering a new type of copay established in the healthcare plan voted on by the House last week. This would allow citizens to pay for medical services, doctor’s visits, prescription medicine, and even ambulance fees using registered guns and ammunition.

The program is joint-organized by the NRA and Children’s Defense Fund, and the exchanged firearms will be donated to local, state-run programs that teach and encourage youth gun training and safety. Joe Castlerock, a retired pharmacist and Fort Worth, Texas resident, has been helping clinics in his area get ready for this new system.

I think it’s a great opportunity for Americans to get great healthcare. They get done with their doctor, great, show the receptionist some paperwork, their ID, and remove any live ammunition. Great, you are all set sir. Bing bang boom. They just exchanged a Winchester to treat a buckshot wound on their little boy, and they can go back out and enjoy their afternoon at the waterpark.

There has been some concern over the value of certain types of firearms, and how much credit is earned for exchanging a weapon of higher value, but the organizations involved assure that systems will be in place that are reasonable, safe, and convenient for all patients.
